Christiana's Story
Christiana Powery was born February 9, 1995 in the Good Samaritan Hospital in San Jose, California. In February of 2005, we started noticing that Christiana was getting weaker. Even minor activities like hanging a towel on the rack after a shower became difficult for her. That summer, the doctors diagnosed Christiana with Juvenile Dermatomyositis (JDMS), an autoimmune disease that breaks down the blood cells within all muscle systems in the body. Christiana’s body didn’t respond to the steroids and medication from the doctors, and she was hospitalized in September 2005 at Lucille Packard Children's Hospital (LPCH) in Palo Alto, California.
Christiana’s little body fought as hard as it could, but the disease had unexpected complications throughout her three months in the hospital. We prayed for the miracle of healing, but God decided to heal her in Heaven. On Wednesday, December 14, 2005, Christiana joined the Lord for an eternity without pain or sickness.
Why “Also Touch”
We have entitled this website “Also Touch,” a tribute to the last words found in Christiana’s journal while she was in the hospital. When Christiana was diagnosed with JDMS, she started to write in her journal. While writing a prayer, Christiana stopped mid-sentence, showing us that her generous heart was thinking of others even in her time of pain. We now share her story so God can continue to use her to “also touch” everyone.
We have included her journal here to share with you. She only intended for believers in Jesus Christ to read her journal. However, if you are not a believer and are searching, we believe that she would want you to read her journal too.

You also have the opportunity to share how she has impacted your life by Telling A Story in the guestbook. We would love to hear from you!
